In late 2024, we had the honor of a truly unique sheep family rescue. Pictured here is three generations of sheep!
Right before Halloween, funny enough, we were sent a very strange Craigslist post about a poor little sheep who obviously never wanted to be a mother and was forced into being one at a breeding farm.
The mother didn’t nurse the last two babies and one of them died from starvation because the farmer wasn’t willing to bottle feed the baby. They are blaming the mother, calling her a "Baba Yaga" level witch of a mother. Her newer babies now were in danger of not getting enough to eat because she was not wanting to let them nurse, and she was in danger of being killed just because she never wanted to be a mom in the first place.
We decided to help this family. We knew in our hearts that they could all thrive here. Maybe she is a witch but we wouldn’t ever call her that like it’s a bad thing. We think she’s a magical being who needs love and respect. We still call her Baba Yaga.
The babies are Olga and S_____ and it’s so obvious they love one another so much.
Momma Baba looks out for her babies and when one of them is away she’s concerned and calls for them. How did the farmer not see what we see? How could you look at these beautiful sheep and think such nasty things about them.
If you think the story is over, that's just the first half! A few months after this occured, we got an email saying "Baba Yaga's" mother was going to be sent to auction, and the farmer wanted to know if we wanted her too. We jumped at the chance to bring her here to be reunited with her daughter and grandchildren.
When they were reunited you could tell they missed each other. They immediately started following each other around.
Three generations saved and now together forever in sanctuary. <3
